Heading for Home!

After Karla's birthday, we spent a couple days at the Straits of Mackinac and Lake Michigan hiking and biking the area.  With outdoor adventure comes flying insects (apparently) this time of year.  The black flies along the water were horrendous! We survived.....barely😧.  Covered in bug bites, we continued onto Traverse City, Michigan to visit Sedona friends Dave and Meg.  Dave and Meg have an incredible home on the east bay of Lake Michigan.  We had a nice time spending a day touring the beautiful landscape and shoreline around the peninsulas.  Thanks to them for the hospitality.

Tuesday we continued south and arrived in Grand Rapids, Michigan for the West Michigan Whitecaps (High "A" affiliate of the Detroit Tigers) vs the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (High "A" affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers) game.  The weather was perfect and many minor league teams allow boondocking for RV patrons.....so we did not have far to go following the Whitecap's 4 - 2 loss.  It was such a great time, we are planning a minor league stadium tour for later this summer.

We arrived in Cincinnati this evening concluding another adventure that was not possible without RVMakes3.  Thanks to Diane for meeting us at the RV storage and delivering us to The McAlpin. Karla and I are so grateful for the additional time God has given us and look forward to our next escapade....sometime in August?  Looking forward to seeing each and everyone of you along the way.  And as always, (we are) coming to a driveway near you.  Take Care!

Celebrating Karla's Birthday in Marquette, MI

We started our morning at Dunkin with a breakfast sandwich and a free donut as today was National Donut day....off to a good start.  Then we spent the rest of the morning biking Marquette's "Rails to Trails", specifically 15 miles (roundtrip) along the shore of Lake Superior.  The temperature along the shore was a perfect 68 degrees and the scenery was spectacular.

Located on the shore of Lake Superior, Marquette, MI is the largest city in the UP and the home of the Northern Michigan University Wildcats.  Lake Superior is the largest and cleanest of the 5 Great Lakes.  It is the largest fresh water lake in the world by surface area and the third largest by volume, holding 10% of the world's surface fresh water.

After a demanding ride, we celebrated Karla's birthday with lunch at a local downtown Marquette restaurant followed by a restful late afternoon.  We are now boondocking in Gwinn, MI for the night.  Tomorrow we continue our travels south eventually returning to Cincinnati sometime next week.

Please stay tuned for additional blog updates.  We look forward to seeing each and everyone of you soon.  And as always, (we are) coming to a driveway near you.  Take care!
