On Monday we made our way to French Creek State Park for a day of rest and refresh of RVMakes3. While there we visited Hopewell Furnace, a nearby National Historic Site. Hopewell Furnace was an iron plantation that began America's transformation into an industrial giant. The Furnace, which operated until 1883, played a major role in the Revolutionary War....producing cannons, ammunition and 115 big guns for the Continental Navy.
Tuesday we arrived at First Energy Stadium in Reading, PA. The Reading "Fightin Phils" battled the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (AA affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays) and lost by a score of 6 - 3. Karla and I had a fun time at the game and a quiet and relaxing night boondocking at the ballpark.
Reading, PA is only 35 miles from Lancaster, PA, our next destination. So we arrived at Clipper Magazine Stadium several hours prior to game time. The staff allowed us to park RVMakes3 behind the left/centerfield scoreboard where we boondocked for the night. We spent the day walking the F&M campus (Karla's Alma Mater) and downtown Lancaster. The Lancaster Barnstormers defeated the Charleston Dirty Birds by a margin of 2 - 1. It was an absolutely perfect evening spent in the most accommodating ball park we have visited so far.
